Getting started

How do I aim?

Drag the map. The crosshair stays in the centre of the screen and your aim line runs from the ball through it. Tap the map to move your ball; pinch to zoom; rotate with two fingers.

What do the two ovals mean?

The yellow dashed oval is your carry zone — where the ball lands. The white oval is your total zone — where it finishes after the roll.

What does the locate button do?

The first tap puts your ball at your GPS position. A second tap turns the map so your aim line runs straight up the screen. A third follows the direction your phone is pointing; tap once more to stop.

Your clubs

Where do the default numbers come from?

They're typical amateur figures drawn from published dispersion studies. They are a starting point, not a prescription — replace them with your own as you learn them.

What is "Roll"?

A multiplier. The total oval is the carry oval multiplied by this number, so a driver that runs out a long way has a bigger value than a wedge that stops quickly.

What is "Tilt"?

Your shot shape, in degrees. Positive tilts the ovals right of your aim line (a fade for a right-hander); negative tilts them left for a draw, or for a left-hander.

I removed a club by mistake — are my numbers gone?

No. "Remove from bag" keeps your numbers; add the same club again and they come back. Only "Delete" on a custom club discards them for good.

On the course

Does it work without a phone signal?

GPS works anywhere, with or without signal. The satellite imagery is streamed, so in a remote spot the map may be blank until you have data. Panning around the course over Wi-Fi beforehand helps the imagery stay cached.

The blue circle around my ball is large.

That circle shows how accurate the position fix currently is. Indoors it can be wide; in the open it shrinks to a few yards within seconds.

Can I measure a second distance?

Yes — press and hold the map to plant a marker at the crosshair. You'll then see the distance from that marker to the crosshair as well as from your ball. Handy for "if I lay up there, what am I left with?". Tap the ✕ on that reading to clear it.
